A network, described simply is the joining together of all your office resources. This means that your PCs can talk to each other, share resources like printers and disk space, as well as share the office internet connection. along with a whole host of other uses.

All PCs connected are equal, they must all administer their own resources for sharing as well as their security (who can log on to them). It is very time consuming to manage this sort of network.

A server is connected to the network to administer it. This includes managing users who can log on, sharing files, printers, internet access and even PC updates and virus protection. This sort of network is more costly, but alot easier to maintain.
